190mm wide boards help create a spacious and modern floor layout
Coffee oak colouring adds warmth and depth to the room
Brushed and oiled finish enhances the natural grain and texture of the wood
15mm overall thickness provides durability with a solid feel underfoot
3mm solid oak wear layer allows sanding and refinishing up to two times
Engineered construction improves stability in changing temperature and humidity conditions
The Calder Engineered Coffee Oak Brushed and Oiled flooring combines rich coffee oak tones with a textured brushed surface, creating a floor full of warmth, depth, and natural character. The darker colouring offers a more distinctive look than traditional natural oak while still retaining the timeless appeal of real wood flooring.
Each board measures 190mm wide, making it a wide plank flooring option that helps rooms feel more open and spacious. The wider boards reduce the number of visible joins across the floor, allowing the grain patterns and colour variation of the oak to become a more prominent design feature.
The surface is finished using a combination of brushing and oiling. The brushing process removes some of the softer grain from the oak, helping to emphasise the natural texture and grain detail across each board. The oil finish then enhances the richness of the wood, bringing out the depth of the coffee colouring while maintaining a natural appearance and feel.
This is mixed grade oak, meaning natural knots, grain variation, and colour differences are all part of the floor's appearance. These features add character and individuality, ensuring every installation has its own unique look.
The floor is manufactured using an engineered multi-layer construction, designed to provide greater stability than solid wood flooring. This helps minimise movement caused by fluctuations in temperature and humidity, making the flooring suitable for most rooms throughout the home, including conservatories. It is also suitable for use with water-based underfloor heating systems, although bathrooms and areas exposed to standing moisture should be avoided.
With a 15mm overall thickness and a 3mm solid oak wear layer, the flooring offers a reassuringly durable feel underfoot. The wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to two times during its lifespan. In most domestic settings, refinishing is unlikely to be required for many years, but it provides useful flexibility for the future.
Installation uses a tongue and groove fitting system, with boards designed to be glued together and typically installed as a floating floor. A 3mm underlay is generally fitted beneath the flooring to help improve sound insulation, heat retention, and protection against minor subfloor moisture. For installations over water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended.
Boards are supplied in mixed lengths, helping to create a more natural and varied floor layout throughout the room.
As this flooring features an oiled finish, the surface is not completely impermeable and may not be the best choice for areas where spillages are common. However, the finish helps preserve the natural appearance of the oak and allows the texture of the wood to remain more visible.
The combination of rich coffee colouring, textured grain, and natural oiled finish makes this flooring an excellent choice for homeowners looking to create a warm and characterful interior with plenty of natural charm.
When ordering, allow approximately 10% extra for cuts and wastage, plus an additional 5% for natural grading variation.
The Calder Coffee Oak Brushed and Oiled flooring offers a fantastic balance between natural character and contemporary styling. The rich coffee tones create warmth and depth, while the brushed texture and oiled finish bring the oak grain to life, creating a floor full of personality.
