Description
The Caledonian Engineered Easdale Oak Oiled Click Lok is a good option for anyone looking for a more natural-looking oak floor without an overly polished finish. The oiling process helps bring out the warmth and variation within the wood while allowing the grain and texture to remain the main focus. Compared to lacquered flooring, it has a softer and more traditional overall appearance that works especially well in relaxed living spaces.
Each board measures 150mm wide, giving the floor a balanced look that suits a wide variety of room styles and sizes. The width feels substantial enough to open up the room visually, while still keeping a more classic plank layout compared to extra-wide contemporary boards.
The surface is finished with a natural oil, which enhances the oak’s colour and grain detail without covering the wood beneath a thick protective coating. This gives the floor a more authentic timber appearance and allows the natural variation within the oak to remain visible. The finish also creates a softer feel underfoot compared to many lacquered surfaces.
This is mixed grade oak, so you should expect visible knots, tonal variation, and grain movement across the boards. Those natural markings give the floor more personality and help it feel less uniform once laid throughout the room.
The floor is built using an engineered multi-layer construction, designed to offer greater stability than solid wood flooring. This helps minimise movement caused by changes in temperature and humidity, making the floor suitable for conservatories and water-based underfloor heating systems. Bathrooms and areas exposed to standing moisture should still be avoided.
The 3mm solid oak wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to two times over its lifespan. Most households are unlikely to need refinishing for many years, but it does provide useful long-term durability and flexibility.
Installation uses a Click Lok profile, allowing boards to click together for a faster and more straightforward fit. The manufacturer still recommends using a tapping block and rubber mallet to ensure all joins are fully tightened during installation. The floor is commonly fitted as a floating floor over a 3mm underlay, helping improve insulation, reduce sound transfer, and provide protection from minor subfloor moisture. For water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended, with floor surface temperatures kept below 27°C.
Because this is an oiled floor, the surface is not fully sealed. Spills should be cleaned up promptly to avoid moisture marking. One of the advantages of an oiled finish, however, is that smaller worn or scratched areas can often be repaired without refinishing the entire floor.
This is a fixed length product, and each pack may include starter boards to help you stagger the layout for a more natural finish.
When ordering, allow approximately 10% extra for cuts and wastage, plus an additional 5% for natural grading variation.

- Engineered wood flooring like this is very resilient to temperature and humidity changes, making it suitable for most rooms, including conservatories. The only exception is the bathroom.
- Due to the stability of our engineered flooring products laying the flooring in rooms heated with water based underfloor heating is not a problem. Our 4mm Compressed Rubber Underlay is suitable for water based underfloor heating.
- Each board is manufactured with a click system profile, so each board can simply be clicked together. Manufacturer’s recommendation is to tap the planks on the edge with a tapping block and rubber mallet to make sure they are clicked tightly together.
