190mm wide planks help create a spacious and open floor layout

6mm solid oak wear layer allows sanding and refinishing up to five times
Engineered construction improves stability in changing conditions
Starter boards included to help create a more natural staggered layout
The Caledonian Engineered Glenmore Oak Oiled is a premium engineered wood floor that combines deeper smoked oak tones with a natural oiled finish, creating a warm and characterful appearance throughout the room. The oil enhances the grain and colour variation within the oak while allowing the surface to retain a softer and more authentic look than heavily lacquered alternatives.
Each board measures 190mm wide, making this a wide plank flooring option that helps rooms feel more spacious and open. The wider boards reduce the number of visible joins across the floor, creating a cleaner and more seamless layout that works particularly well in larger living spaces and open-plan interiors.
The surface is finished with a natural oil, which helps enrich the smoked oak colouring while preserving the natural texture and detail within the wood. Unlike heavier lacquered finishes, the oil allows the grain and tonal variation to remain the focus, giving the floor a more relaxed and organic appearance once installed.
This is mixed grade oak, meaning knots, grain movement, and tonal variation are all part of the finished look. These natural markings work especially well with the richer smoked tones, helping create a floor with plenty of depth and individuality rather than a uniform appearance.
The floor is built using an engineered multi-layer construction, designed to improve stability compared to solid wood flooring. This helps minimise movement caused by changes in humidity and temperature, making the floor suitable for conservatories and water-based underfloor heating systems. Bathrooms and areas exposed to standing moisture should still be avoided.
With a substantial 20mm overall thickness and a premium 6mm solid oak wear layer, the floor is designed for exceptional long-term durability. The thick wear layer allows the surface to be sanded and refinished up to five times during its lifespan, making it a particularly strong long-term investment for busy homes and high-use living spaces.
Installation uses a tongue and groove fitting system, with boards designed to be glued together and typically installed as a floating floor. An underlay is generally fitted beneath the flooring to help improve insulation, reduce sound transfer, and provide protection against minor subfloor moisture. For water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended, with floor surface temperatures kept below 27°C.
As this is an oiled floor, the surface is not fully sealed, so spillages should be cleaned promptly to help avoid moisture marking. One advantage of oil is that smaller scratched or worn areas can often be repaired locally without refinishing the full floor.
This is a fixed length product, and each pack may include starter boards to help you stagger the layout for a more natural finish.
When ordering, allow approximately 10% extra for cuts and wastage, plus an additional 5% for natural grading variation.
The Caledonian Glenmore Oak Oiled has a really rich and premium look thanks to the smoked tones, wide boards, and exceptionally thick 6mm wear layer. The oiled finish keeps the floor feeling natural and full of depth rather than overly polished.
Richard, our Product Expert, recommends the Caledonian because:
Premium Construction: 6mm wear layer offers excellent long-term durability
Rich Smoked Tones: Darker oak colouring adds warmth and depth to larger rooms
Natural Appearance: Oiled finish keeps the wood looking authentic and relaxed
Wide Plank Design: 190mm boards help create a spacious and uncluttered layout
