The Caledonian Engineered Lismore Oak Brushed and Oiled Click Lok is a darker-toned engineered wood floor designed to bring warmth and depth into the room without losing the natural detail of real oak. The smoked colouring gives the boards a richer appearance, while the brushed and oiled finish keeps the surface feeling authentic and full of texture rather than overly polished.
At 150mm wide, the planks offer a balanced layout that suits a wide range of room sizes. They’re wide enough to help the floor feel open and uncluttered, while still retaining a more classic plank appearance compared to oversized contemporary boards. This makes the floor particularly versatile in both modern and traditional interiors.
The surface is brushed and oiled, which helps emphasise the natural grain patterns within the oak. Brushing lightly textures the wood by lifting the softer grain, creating a more tactile feel underfoot. The oil then enhances the smoked tones and grain detail without creating a heavy top coating, allowing the wood to retain a softer and more natural appearance.
This is mixed grade oak, so knots, tonal variation, and grain movement are all part of the finished look. These natural features work especially well with the darker smoked colouring, helping the floor feel more characterful and less uniform once laid.
The floor uses an engineered multi-layer construction, designed to improve stability compared to solid wood flooring. This helps reduce movement caused by changes in humidity and temperature, making the floor suitable for conservatories and water-based underfloor heating systems. Bathrooms and rooms exposed to standing moisture should still be avoided.
The 3mm solid oak wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to two times during its lifespan. In most homes, this level of restoration is unlikely to be required for many years, but it does add useful long-term durability.
Installation uses a Click Lok system, allowing the boards to click together for a faster and more straightforward fit. To ensure tight joins, the manufacturer recommends using a tapping block and rubber mallet during installation. The floor is typically installed as a floating floor over a 3mm underlay, helping improve insulation, reduce sound transfer, and offer some protection from minor subfloor moisture. For water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended, with floor temperatures kept below 27°C.
As this is an oiled wood floor, the surface is not fully sealed. Spillages should be wiped up promptly to help avoid moisture marking. One of the advantages of oil, however, is that smaller scratched or worn areas can usually be repaired locally without refinishing the entire room.
This is a fixed length product, and each pack may include starter boards to help you stagger the layout for a more natural finish.
When ordering, allow approximately 10% extra for cuts and wastage, plus an additional 5% for grading variation.
The Caledonian Lismore Oak Brushed and Oiled has a richer and more relaxed appearance than many darker lacquered floors. The smoked tones feel warm rather than harsh, while the textured finish gives the boards a much more natural character.
Danielle, our Product Expert, recommends the Caledonian because:
Natural Texture: Brushed grain gives the surface more depth and detail
Warm Smoked Tones: Darker colouring adds richness without looking too heavy
Easy Spot Repairs: Oiled finish allows smaller damaged areas to be treated locally
Straightforward Fitting: Click Lok profile helps speed up installation
