The Edmonton Engineered Natural Oak Brushed and Oiled is a 15mm engineered oak floor with a 4mm wear layer, designed for homes where you want a wider plank look with a natural finish. The extra width reduces the number of joins across the floor, helping rooms feel more open and less segmented. The engineered core helps manage movement caused by changes in temperature and humidity, and it’s suitable for water-based underfloor heating, making it a practical option across different spaces.

Each board is 220mm wide, which is noticeably wider than standard planks. This creates a more open, flowing layout and works particularly well in larger rooms or areas where you want to maximise the sense of space.

The surface is brushed and oiled. Brushing lifts the natural grain slightly, giving the floor a subtle texture underfoot that feels closer to real timber. The oiled finish enhances the oak’s natural tones without adding a heavy surface layer, keeping the overall look understated.

This is mixed grade oak, so you’ll see knots, grain variation, and colour differences between boards. These natural features stand out across the wider planks, adding more character once the floor is installed.

The 4mm solid oak wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to three times. In most homes, this won’t be needed for at least 10 to 15 years, but it gives you flexibility over the longer term. The 15mm thickness, combined with the engineered construction, provides a stable and durable build.

Installation uses a tongue and groove system, with boards designed to be glued together. It’s typically installed as a floating floor over a 3mm underlay, which helps improve insulation and reduce noise. When installing over water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended, with a maximum surface temperature of 27°C.

Because this is an oiled wood floor, the surface is not fully sealed. Spills should be wiped up promptly to prevent marking, and it’s not suitable for bathrooms or areas with standing water. The benefit is that any scratches or worn areas can be repaired locally by sanding and re-oiling, rather than refinishing the entire floor.

This is a fixed length product, so boards are supplied in set sizes rather than mixed lengths. Each pack may include starter boards to help you stagger the layout for a more natural finish, which helps break up repetition across the floor.

When ordering, allow around 10% extra for wastage and cuts, plus an additional 5% to account for natural variation in grading.
