The Glanwell Elite Engineered Natural Oak Matt Lacquered is a 20mm engineered oak floor with a substantial 6mm wear layer, designed for homes that want the look and feel of a heavier, more traditional wood floor with the added stability of engineered construction. The wider planks create a more open layout, while the lacquered finish keeps day-to-day maintenance straightforward. It’s also suitable for water-based underfloor heating, making it a flexible option for larger living spaces and open-plan rooms.

Each board is 190mm wide, which reduces the number of joins across the floor and creates a cleaner, less segmented appearance once installed. The wider plank size helps rooms feel more spacious and works particularly well in medium and larger areas.

The surface is lacquered, creating a sealed protective layer across the wood. This helps resist everyday wear and makes cleaning easier, as dust and spills remain on the surface rather than soaking in. The finish keeps the natural detail of the oak visible while adding extra practicality for busy homes.

This is mixed grade oak, so you’ll see knots, grain variation, and colour differences between boards. These natural details give the floor a more authentic appearance once laid, rather than a completely uniform finish.

This is a fixed length product, so boards are supplied in set sizes rather than mixed lengths. Each pack may include starter boards to help you stagger the layout for a more natural finish, helping to reduce visible repetition across the floor once installed.

The 6mm solid oak wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to five times. In most homes, this won’t be needed for many years, but it gives the floor a considerably longer lifespan than thinner wear layers. Combined with the 20mm thickness and engineered multi-ply construction, it creates a particularly stable and durable build.

Installation uses a tongue and groove system, with boards designed to be glued together. It’s typically installed as a floating floor over underlay, which helps improve insulation and reduce noise. A 3mm underlay is commonly used, while a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended when installing over water-based underfloor heating, with a maximum surface temperature of 27°C.

The lacquered finish offers good resistance to everyday spills and wear. Liquids should still be wiped up promptly, and the floor is not suitable for bathrooms or areas with standing water.

When ordering, allow around 10% extra for wastage and cuts, plus an additional 5% to account for natural variation in grading.
