The Glanwell Engineered Natural Oak Brushed and Oiled flooring combines classic natural oak tones with a textured brushed surface and natural oiled finish. The result is a floor that showcases the authentic beauty of real oak while bringing warmth, character, and a more natural appearance to the room.
Each board measures 150mm wide, creating a balanced floor layout that works equally well in both smaller and larger spaces. The plank width helps showcase the oak grain while maintaining a traditional and versatile appearance that suits a wide range of interior styles.
The surface is finished using a combination of brushing and oiling. The brushing process removes some of the softer grain from the oak, helping to emphasise the natural texture and grain patterns within the wood. The oil then penetrates the surface, enriching the colour and enhancing the character of the oak while maintaining a natural look and feel.
This is mixed grade oak, meaning natural knots, grain variation, and colour differences are all part of the floor's appearance. These characteristics help create an authentic hardwood floor with plenty of natural charm and individuality.
The floor is manufactured using an engineered multi-layer construction, designed to provide greater stability than solid wood flooring. This helps reduce movement caused by fluctuations in temperature and humidity, making the flooring suitable for most rooms throughout the home, including conservatories. It is also suitable for use with water-based underfloor heating systems, although bathrooms and areas exposed to standing moisture should be avoided.
With a 14mm overall thickness and a 3mm solid oak wear layer, the flooring offers a reassuringly durable feel underfoot. The wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to two times during its lifespan. In most domestic settings, refinishing is unlikely to be required for many years, but it provides useful long-term flexibility if needed.
Installation uses a tongue and groove fitting system, with boards designed to be glued together and typically installed as a floating floor. A 3mm underlay is generally fitted beneath the flooring to help improve sound insulation, heat retention, and protection against minor subfloor moisture. For installations over water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended.
Boards are supplied in mixed lengths, helping to create a more natural and varied appearance once installed.
As this flooring features an oiled finish, it is important to note that the surface is not completely impermeable and may not be the best choice for areas where spillages are common. However, the natural finish helps preserve the authentic look and feel of the oak.
The combination of natural oak colouring, textured grain, and oiled finish makes this flooring an excellent choice for homeowners looking to create a warm and characterful interior with a more natural wood appearance.
When ordering, allow approximately 10% extra for cuts and wastage, plus an additional 5% for natural grading variation.
The Glanwell Natural Oak Brushed and Oiled flooring offers a beautifully natural look that really highlights the character of real oak. The brushed texture and oiled finish work together to bring the grain to life, while the engineered construction provides the stability needed for modern homes.
