The Glanwell Engineered White Oak Brushed and Lacquered is a 15mm engineered oak floor with a 4mm wear layer, designed for homes that want a lighter, more spacious wood floor with a practical low-maintenance finish. The pale white oak tones help brighten the room, while the engineered core reduces movement caused by changes in temperature and humidity. It’s also suitable for water-based underfloor heating, making it a flexible option for modern living spaces.
Each board is 220mm wide, which is noticeably wider than standard planks. This reduces the number of joins across the floor and creates a cleaner, more continuous appearance once installed. The wider format works particularly well in larger rooms and open-plan spaces where you want the flooring to feel less busy.
The surface is brushed and lacquered. Brushing lifts the natural grain slightly, adding a subtle texture underfoot so the floor feels closer to real timber. The lacquered finish seals the surface, helping to protect against everyday wear while making cleaning more straightforward.
This is mixed grade oak, so you’ll see knots, grain variation, and tonal differences between boards. These natural details stop the lighter finish from feeling too flat or uniform once laid.
This is a fixed length product, so boards are supplied in set sizes rather than mixed lengths. Each pack may include starter boards to help you stagger the layout for a more natural finish, helping to reduce visible repetition across the floor once installed.
The 4mm solid oak wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to three times. In most homes, this won’t be needed for at least 10 to 15 years, but it gives the floor good long-term flexibility. Combined with the 15mm thickness and engineered multi-ply construction, it provides a stable and durable structure for everyday use.
Installation uses a tongue and groove system, with boards designed to be glued together. It’s typically installed as a floating floor over a 3mm underlay, which helps improve insulation and reduce noise. When installing over water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended, with a maximum surface temperature of 27°C.
The lacquered finish offers good resistance to everyday spills and wear. Liquids should still be wiped up promptly, and the floor is not suitable for bathrooms or areas with standing water.
When ordering, allow around 10% extra for wastage and cuts, plus an additional 5% to account for natural variation in grading.

We like the Glanwell White Oak Brushed and Lacquered because the lighter tone helps brighten the room without losing the texture and character of real wood. The extra-wide planks also make spaces feel noticeably more open once installed.
Charlotte, our Product Expert, recommends the Glanwell because:
Pet Friendly: Brushed texture helps soften the look of light scratches
Family Friendly: Mixed grade oak blends in everyday wear and dents
Spill Resistant: Lacquered finish offers better protection against spills
