What’s the easiest type of flooring to keep clean?

If you want low-maintenance flooring, laminate and vinyl are your best options. They have smooth, sealed surfaces that resist stains, dirt, and spills, making them incredibly easy to clean. A quick sweep, vacuum, or damp mop is usually all you need.

Engineered wood is also fairly easy to maintain, but you’ll need to be cautious with moisture—too much water can damage the wood over time.

For the easiest cleaning routine:

  • Laminate & vinyl – Sweep or vacuum regularly, mop with a damp (not wet) cloth.
  • Engineered wood – Use a soft brush or vacuum and clean with a wood-friendly cleaner.
  • Avoid harsh chemicals – Stick to manufacturer-recommended cleaning products to protect your floor’s finish.
