The Henley Engineered Golden Distressed Oak is a 20mm engineered oak floor with a substantial 6mm wear layer, designed for homes that want a warmer, more traditional wood look with plenty of texture and character. The golden tones help create a softer and more inviting feel, while the distressed surface gives the boards a more aged appearance from the moment they’re installed. The engineered core helps reduce movement caused by changes in temperature and humidity, and the floor is suitable for water-based underfloor heating.

Each board is 190mm wide, helping to reduce visible joins across the floor and create a more open layout. The wider planks work particularly well in medium and larger spaces where you want the flooring to feel less busy and more continuous.

The surface has a distressed finish, adding texture and subtle variation across the boards to create a more traditional and lived-in appearance. The detailing helps highlight the grain and natural character of the oak while giving the floor a softer, less uniform look overall.

This is mixed grade oak, so you’ll see knots, grain variation, and tonal differences between boards. These natural features work well with the distressed finish, adding extra depth and helping the floor avoid an overly uniform appearance.

This is a fixed length product, so boards are supplied in set sizes rather than mixed lengths. Each pack may include starter boards to help you stagger the layout for a more natural finish, helping to reduce visible repetition across the floor once installed.

The 6mm solid oak wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to five times. In most homes, this won’t be needed for many years, but it gives the floor a significantly longer lifespan than thinner wear layers. Combined with the 20mm thickness and engineered multi-ply construction, it creates a particularly solid and durable build.

Installation uses a tongue and groove system, with boards designed to be glued together. It’s typically installed as a floating floor over underlay, which helps improve insulation and reduce noise. A 3mm underlay is commonly used, while a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended when installing over water-based underfloor heating, with a maximum surface temperature of 27°C.

The textured surface can hold slightly more dust than a completely smooth floor, so occasional brushing or vacuuming between the grain detail will help keep it looking its best. The floor is not suitable for bathrooms or areas with standing water.

When ordering, allow around 10% extra for wastage and cuts, plus an additional 5% to account for natural variation in grading.
