The Henley Engineered Natural Oak is a 20mm engineered oak floor with a 6mm wear layer, designed for homes where you want a floor that feels solid and lasts over time. The thicker build gives it a more substantial feel underfoot, while the engineered construction helps reduce movement caused by changes in heat and moisture. It’s a practical option for most living spaces and works well with water-based underfloor heating.

Each board is 180mm wide, which sits comfortably between narrow and extra-wide planks. It gives a clean, balanced look without making the floor feel too busy or too sparse. It’s a good middle ground if you want something that suits both smaller and larger rooms.

The surface is brushed and oiled. Brushing lifts the natural grain slightly, so you get a gentle texture underfoot that feels more like real wood. The oiled finish keeps the appearance natural and allows the variation in the oak to come through without adding a heavy surface layer.

This is mixed grade oak, so you’ll see knots, grain changes, and colour variation across the boards. It doesn’t try to look uniform, which gives the floor a more natural feel once it’s laid. Boards may also come in mixed lengths, helping avoid a repeated pattern.

The 6mm solid oak wear layer means the floor can be sanded and refinished up to five times. In most homes, this won’t be something you need to consider for at least 10 to 15 years. Combined with the 20mm thickness and engineered core, it stays stable and holds up well over time.

Installation uses a tongue and groove system, with boards designed to be glued together. Most people install it as a floating floor over underlay, which helps with sound reduction and insulation. If you’re fitting over water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended, and the surface temperature should not exceed 27°C.

Because this is an oiled wood floor, the surface is not fully sealed. Spills should be wiped up when they happen to prevent marking. It’s not suitable for bathrooms or areas where water can sit. The benefit, though, is that any scratches or worn patches can be repaired locally by sanding and re-oiling, rather than refinishing the whole floor.

When ordering, it’s worth allowing around 10% extra for wastage and cuts, plus an additional 5% to account for natural variation in the boards.
