Description

The Hillingdon Engineered Natural Oak Brushed and Lacquered Click Lok flooring combines the classic appeal of natural oak with a lightly textured surface and a durable protective finish. Designed to showcase the beauty of real wood while offering everyday practicality, it provides a versatile flooring solution suitable for both modern and traditional homes.

Each board measures 190mm wide, making it a wide plank flooring option that helps create a more open and spacious feel within a room. The broader boards reduce the number of joins across the floor, helping to emphasise the natural grain patterns and create a cleaner, more seamless appearance once installed. Boards are supplied in mixed lengths, which helps achieve a more authentic and varied layout.

The surface is finished with a combination of brushing and lacquering. The brushing process removes some of the softer grain from the oak, creating subtle texture and bringing greater definition to the natural grain patterns. A protective lacquer is then applied to seal the surface, helping to guard against everyday wear while making cleaning and maintenance straightforward.

This is mixed grade oak, meaning natural knots, colour variation, and grain movement form part of the floor’s appearance. These characteristics give the flooring a genuine wood look with plenty of individuality and charm, ensuring no two installations are exactly alike.

Manufactured using an engineered multi-layer construction, the flooring offers improved dimensional stability compared to solid wood. This helps reduce movement caused by fluctuations in temperature and humidity, making it suitable for conservatories and water-based underfloor heating systems. Bathrooms and other areas exposed to excessive moisture should still be avoided.

With a 14mm overall thickness and a 3mm solid oak wear layer, the floor offers an excellent balance of durability and practicality. The wear layer allows the surface to be sanded and refinished up to two times during its lifespan, helping extend the life of the floor if required. In most domestic environments, refinishing is unlikely to be necessary for many years.

Installation uses a Click Lok fitting system, allowing boards to click securely together for a quicker and more convenient fitting process. For the best results, the manufacturer recommends tapping the boards into place using a tapping block and rubber mallet to ensure a tight and secure fit. The flooring is typically installed as a floating floor over a 3mm underlay, helping improve sound insulation, heat retention, and protection from minor subfloor moisture. For installations over water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended, with floor surface temperatures maintained below 27°C.

The combination of natural oak colouring, subtle surface texture, and wide plank design makes this flooring a versatile choice for creating a warm and welcoming interior that remains practical for everyday family life.

When ordering, allow approximately 10% extra for cuts and wastage, plus an additional 5% for natural grading variation.
