Wood Effect LVT Flooring FAQ's
What Is Wood Effect LVT Flooring?
Wood Effect LVT (Luxury Vinyl Tile) flooring is a type of flooring that mimics the appearance of wood while offering the benefits and durability of vinyl. LVT flooring has gained popularity in recent years due to its realistic wood-like appearance, affordability, and easy maintenance.
Wood Effect LVT flooring is made of multiple layers. The top layer, known as the wear layer, is a transparent protective coating that provides resistance against scratches, stains, and fading. Beneath the wear layer is a printed layer that features a high-resolution image of wood grain, knots, and other natural characteristics of real wood. This layer is responsible for creating a realistic wood appearance and is available in various colours, finishes, and wood species to suit different design preferences. Below the printed layer is the core layer, which is typically made of wood plastic composite (WPC) or stone plastic composite (SPC). This layer provides stability and structural integrity to the flooring. Finally, there is a backing layer that adds stability and sound absorption properties to the flooring. It helps to reduce noise and provides a comfortable walking surface.
Wood effect LVT flooring offers several advantages over traditional hardwood floors. It is more affordable, easier to install, and requires minimal maintenance. It is resistant to moisture, stains, and scratches, making it suitable for high-traffic areas. Additionally, LVT flooring can be installed over existing floors, such as concrete or tile, without the need for extensive preparation.
Overall, wood effect LVT flooring provides a cost-effective and visually appealing alternative to real wood flooring, combining the beauty of wood with the practicality of vinyl.
Does Wood Effect LVT Flooring Scratch Easily?
All of our LVT flooring options have high resistance against scratches, stains, and fading thanks to the tough protective layer. However, they are not indestructible and therefore it’s important that you care for your flooring correctly. For more information on this please visit our LVT maintenance guide.
Is Wood Effect LVT Flooring Waterproof?
Yes, our entire LVT range is 100% waterproof so you can have the appearance of a solid wood floor in your bathroom, without worrying about issues such as warping over time.
How Long Does Wood Effect LVT Flooring Need To Acclimatise?
As with any other LVT flooring, your luxury vinyl tiles will need some time to adjust to the temperature and humidity of your home. To do this, lay your flooring flat on the floor of the room where it will be installed. Then leave it there for a minimum of 24 hours. This will allow enough time for your wood effect LVT flooring to adjust to the temperature and humidity conditions of your home.
