The Milano Engineered Natural Oak Brushed and Lacquered flooring combines classic natural oak tones with a textured brushed surface and protective lacquered finish. The result is a floor that showcases the beauty of real oak while offering practical everyday durability and easy maintenance.

Each board measures 190mm wide, making it a wide plank flooring option that helps create a more open and spacious feel throughout the room. The wider boards reduce the number of visible joins across the floor, allowing the natural oak grain to become a more prominent feature within the overall design.

The surface is finished using a combination of brushing and lacquering. The brushing process removes some of the softer grain from the oak, helping to highlight the natural grain patterns and texture of the wood. A protective lacquer is then applied, sealing the surface and helping protect against everyday wear while making the flooring easier to clean and maintain.

This is mixed grade oak, meaning natural knots, grain variation, and colour differences are all part of the floor's appearance. These natural characteristics help create an authentic hardwood look and ensure every installation has its own unique character.

The floor is manufactured using an engineered multi-layer construction, designed to provide greater stability than solid wood flooring. This helps reduce movement caused by fluctuations in temperature and humidity, making the flooring suitable for most rooms throughout the home, including conservatories. It is also suitable for use with water-based underfloor heating systems, although bathrooms and areas exposed to standing moisture should be avoided.

With a 14mm overall thickness and a 3mm solid oak wear layer, the flooring offers a reassuringly durable feel underfoot. The wear layer allows the floor to be sanded and refinished up to two times during its lifespan. In most domestic environments, refinishing is unlikely to be required for many years, but it provides useful long-term flexibility if needed.

Installation uses a tongue and groove fitting system, with boards designed to be glued together and typically installed as a floating floor. A 3mm underlay is generally fitted beneath the flooring to help improve sound insulation, heat retention, and protection against minor subfloor moisture. For installations over water-based underfloor heating, a 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended.

Boards are supplied in mixed lengths, helping to create a more natural and varied floor layout throughout the installation.

The combination of natural oak colouring, textured grain, and protective lacquered finish makes this flooring an excellent choice for homeowners looking for a balance of traditional wood character and practical everyday performance.

When ordering, allow approximately 10% extra for cuts and wastage, plus an additional 5% for natural grading variation.

Customer Questions
What is engineered wood flooring?
Engineered wood is real wood on top, with stable layers beneath.
Do I need to acclimatise my wood flooring before fitting?
Yes, you must acclimatise your wood flooring before installation. For engineered wood, allow 48–72 hours; for solid wood, give it at least 7 days. Keep the packs flat, unopened, and in a room with stable conditions.
Can I install wood flooring over underfloor heating?
Yes, you can install wood flooring over underfloor heating—but it must be a water-based system. Never use electric underfloor heating with wood flooring, as it can overheat and damage the boards.
Do I need expansion gaps when fitting wood flooring?
Yes, always leave an expansion gap of 10–15mm around the perimeter of your wood flooring. This allows the wood to expand and contract naturally with changes in temperature and humidity.
Can engineered wood flooring be sanded?
Yes, engineered wood flooring can be sanded, but only if the top wear layer is thick enough—usually at least 3mm. Thinner layers may not allow for sanding without damage.
