Does Vinyl Flooring Scratch Easily?

Vinyl flooring is well known for its scratch-resistant qualities thanks to the tough vinyl wear layer that is applied. However, like all floors, they’re not indestructible. Pets with sharp claws, furniture that’s moved around a lot and high heels are all guilty of ruining beautiful floors. Even with the most durable flooring options.

If durability is your main concern, we suggest opting for an SPC vinyl floor which will be slightly more durable than our WPC options. We also advise that you take a look at our LVT maintenance guide to keep your flooring in top condition.

Is Vinyl Flooring Waterproof?

Yes, our entire vinyl flooring range is 100% waterproof, making it the ideal flooring choice for bathrooms.

How Long Does Vinyl Flooring Need To Acclimatise?

Once your new vinyl flooring has arrived, you must leave it for 24 hours before you can begin the installation. This allows time for your new floor to acclimate to the temperature and humidity conditions of your home. The best way to do this is to lay the boards flat in the room and leave them be. Never try to skip the acclimation process as this could lead to an unsteady installation and problems later.

Vinyl Flooring Finishes & Treatments

Embossed

Our embossed LVT floors are the closest replica you can get to a wood or stone floor, without the cost. The texture produced during the embossing process will follow the pattern in the design image. This makes it incredibly difficult to tell that it has been purposely produced that way.

Textured

The entire vinyl flooring range has had some degree of texture added to them to help them appear more natural.

Stone Embossed

Thanks to the very nature of vinyl flooring and how it is made, you can have the luxury of a stone floor, without the cost, strenuous installation, or high levels of maintenance. Vinyl Flooring Thickness

Board Thickness

Thicker boards tend to be more hard-wearing and provide a slightly improved sound reduction performance. Therefore, you may want to consider choosing thicker boards in upstairs apartments or bedrooms. Thicker boards are also more suited to higher traffic areas, where they can withstand greater use. However, they are often more expensive to show for this, so ultimately it comes down to budget and personal preference.

Vinyl Flooring Installation Methods

Click Lok System

Click Lok flooring has a locking mechanism on the edge of the boards which creates a glue-free, interlocking fitting system, meaning it can be laid more easily and relatively hassle-free. The Click Lok system is intended to make laying flooring easier for any DIY enthusiast, by simply pushing, dropping, or clicking boards into place. If you’re considering Click Lok, it’s important to think about the underlying surface on which your new LVT flooring will be laid. Uneven surfaces make Click Lok much more difficult to fit so it's important to prepare your subfloor before fitting. A level subfloor will provide a high-quality finish for your LVT flooring.

Bond Down Installation

The bond down installation method allows you to glue your LVT flooring directly to the subfloor. Using a strong adhesive, it creates a sturdy finish that won’t buckle under the pressures of daily life. However, you should ensure the subfloor is suitable before considering bond down LVT. For a successful bond down installation, it is crucial to have a smooth and level subfloor, ensuring firm adhesion of the glue. Once installed correctly, the bond-down method provides exceptional durability and a long-lasting lifespan.
