How do I calculate my floor area?

Measure Each Room:

  • Use a tape measure to find the length and width of the room in metres.
  • Multiply these two numbers to get the area in square metres (e.g., a room 4m long and 3m wide is 12m²).

For Irregular Shapes:

  • Divide the space into smaller, more manageable shapes (rectangles or squares).
  • Calculate the area of each shape and then add them together for the total.

Account for Waste:

  • Always add 10% to your total for cutting, mistakes, and future repairs.

Special Considerations:

  • For rooms with alcoves or built-in furniture, measure and include these smaller areas in your calculation.

By carefully measuring and planning, you’ll avoid running short on materials and ensure a stress-free flooring installation.
