How Long Does It Take to Fit New Flooring?
The time it takes to fit new flooring depends on the type of flooring, the size of the room, and whether it’s a DIY or professional job. But it’s important to also factor in acclimatisation time, especially for wood and laminate floors.
Here’s a general guide:
Vinyl flooring – Quick to install. Most rooms take around 1 day, with minimal prep needed.
Engineered Wood Flooring – Typically requires 1–2 days to install. Don’t forget to acclimatise the boards for 48 hours before fitting.
Solid Wood Flooring – Needs 2–3 days to install, plus a minimum of 5–7 days of acclimatisation beforehand to allow the wood to adjust to room temperature and humidity.
Parquet Flooring – More detailed to install. Expect 2–4 days, with an acclimatisation period of up to a week depending on the product.
Acclimatising your flooring ensures stability and helps prevent movement, warping, or gaps after installation – it’s worth the wait for a long-lasting result!
