Do I Need Underlay for Parquet Flooring?

If you're considering parquet flooring for your home, you might be wondering whether underlay is necessary. The short answer is no – we actually don’t recommend using underlay for parquet flooring.

Instead, we advise that parquet flooring is glued directly down to the subfloor. This installation method ensures a more secure, long-lasting fit and helps maintain the beautiful pattern that parquet is known for, whether it’s classic herringbone or something more contemporary.

Gluing the floor also helps to minimise movement over time, which is especially important with parquet designs as they can shift more noticeably than straight planks. It’s a more stable and professional finish, ideal for achieving that elegant and timeless look.
