Laminate Parquet Flooring FAQ's
What Is Laminate Parquet Flooring?
Laminate parquet flooring is a versatile flooring option that combines the aesthetic appeal of the parquet pattern with the practicality of laminate flooring. At around half of the cost of solid wood parquet flooring, it makes an excellent alternative that is much more cost-effective and easier to maintain.
Laminate parquet flooring is composed of multiple layers. The top layer (also known as the wear layer) is a high-quality photograph that replicates the natural patterns, grains, and textures of various wood species such as oak or walnut. This layer is protected by a transparent, durable wear-resistant coating to ensure longevity while also providing some resistance to scratches, stains, and fading. Beneath the wear layer, there is a core layer that is typically made up of high-density fibreboard (HDF). The core layer is there to provide stability, strength, and impact resistance to the flooring. The above layers are then supported by the backing layer (also known as the balancing layer). This layer provides additional support and stability, as well as providing extra protection for the flooring and the subfloor.
Laminate parquet flooring offers several benefits, including durability, additional resistance to moisture and wear, easy maintenance, and affordability. However, one of the most significant advantages of laminate parquet flooring is its ease of installation. All of our laminate floors typically feature a Click Lok system, allowing for straightforward, glue-free installation. This makes it a popular choice for DIY enthusiasts or anyone looking to save some money by installing the floor themselves.
Does Laminate Parquet Flooring Scratch Easily?
Laminate flooring is designed to be highly resistant to scratches and wear. Plus, our laminate parquet floors all feature a protective wear layer that helps guard against scratches, stains, and fading. However, it is important to note that no flooring material is entirely scratch-proof, no matter how durable.
To minimize the risk of scratches on your laminate parquet flooring, you should take preventive measures such as:
- Using Furniture Pads: Place felt or rubber pads on the bottom of furniture legs to prevent them from scratching or scraping the floor when moved.
- Placing Mats and Rugs: Mats or rugs in high-traffic areas or beneath furniture helps to provide an extra layer of protection against potential scratches.
- Avoiding Sharp Objects: Be cautious with sharp or abrasive objects on the flooring surface. Avoid wearing stilettos or dragging or sliding heavy objects directly on the laminate.
- Regular Cleaning: Keep the floor clean by sweeping or vacuuming regularly to remove any dirt or debris that could potentially cause scratches.
Is Laminate Parquet Flooring Waterproof?
No, our laminate parquet flooring range is not waterproof. However, we have plenty of LVT parquet flooring options available which are 100% waterproof and ideal for bathrooms.
How Long Does Laminate Parquet Flooring Need To Acclimatise?
Like all wood flooring, your laminate parquet flooring will need some time to adjust to the new environment. To do this, lay the flooring flat on the floor of the room where it will be installed. For laminate parquet flooring, you should do this for a minimum of 48 hours before proceeding with the installation. This will allow enough time for the laminate to adjust to the temperature and humidity conditions of your home.
