Description
The Caledonian Engineered Uist Oak Lacquered Click Lok is a practical engineered wood floor that combines the warmth of natural oak with a finish designed for easier day-to-day living. The lacquered surface gives the floor a cleaner and slightly more refined appearance while still allowing the grain and natural detail of the oak to remain visible.
Each board measures 150mm wide, creating a balanced layout that works comfortably across both modern and more traditional interiors. It’s a size that suits most room types, offering enough width to help spaces feel open without dominating smaller rooms.
The floor is finished with a protective lacquer, which seals the surface against everyday wear and helps make cleaning simpler compared to untreated or oiled wood. The finish also enhances the natural variation within the oak while adding a smoother feel underfoot, making it a practical option for busy households.
This is mixed grade oak, so you’ll still see natural knots, grain movement, and colour variation between boards. Those details help retain the authentic appearance of real wood and stop the floor from looking too manufactured once fitted throughout the room.
The floor uses an engineered construction, designed to offer greater stability than solid wood flooring. This helps minimise expansion and contraction caused by seasonal temperature and humidity changes, allowing the floor to be fitted in conservatories and over water-based underfloor heating systems. Bathrooms and areas exposed to standing moisture should still be avoided.
The 3mm solid oak wear layer means the floor can be sanded and refinished up to two times during its lifespan. While most homes won’t need this level of restoration for many years, it provides added longevity and flexibility over thinner engineered products.
Installation uses a Click Lok profile, allowing boards to click together for a faster and more straightforward fit. For the best finish, the manufacturer recommends using a tapping block and rubber mallet to ensure all joins are tightly secured. The floor is generally installed as a floating floor over a 3mm underlay, helping improve insulation, reduce sound transfer, and offer protection from minor subfloor moisture. A 4mm compressed rubber underlay is recommended when fitting over water-based underfloor heating, with surface temperatures kept below 27°C.
This is a fixed length product, and each pack may include starter boards to help you stagger the layout for a more natural finish.
The lacquered finish provides good resistance to everyday household wear, although spillages should still be cleaned promptly to help preserve the floor over time.
When ordering, allow approximately 10% extra for cuts and wastage, plus an additional 5% for natural grading variation.

- Due to the stability of our engineered flooring products laying the flooring in rooms heated with water based underfloor heating is not a problem. Our 4mm Compressed Rubber Underlay is suitable for water based underfloor heating.
- Each board is manufactured with a click system profile, so each board can simply be clicked together. Manufacturer’s recommendation is to tap the planks on the edge with a tapping block and rubber mallet to make sure they are clicked tightly together.
