What is Distressed Wood Flooring?

Distressed wood flooring is a surface treatment finish where a wood floor is made to look aged and worn. It creates an authentic-looking old wooden floor which is perfect for bringing character to a room without sacrificing the long life-span of a new floor.

Real wood floors are full of natural variations such as blemishes, knots and even cracks. These show the wooden floor to be authentic and natural, but are often hidden during the staining and finishing process. Distressed wood flooring, on the other hand, celebrates the variations. Rather than sanding away the blemishes and knots, or filling in the cracks, manufacturers highlight the different textures while creating a rigid and durable floorboard. It creates a beautiful and natural-looking floor.

Once the floor’s distressed look has been brought out, it’s finished with oils to protect the floor from the daily demands of busy homes.

We have a range of distressed wood floors available in our engineered wood flooring range.

What is Engineered Wood Flooring?

Engineered wood flooring is a way of creating real wood floors but with more resilience to heat and moisture than solid wood. They also are more rigid than solid wood boards while being made out of the same beautiful material.

Few people can tell the difference between a real wood floor and an engineered wood floor once it’s been fitted. The top layer of engineered wood is exactly the same as solid wood. It can be made from oak or walnut and is a beautiful way to floor your home while getting around the limitations of solid wood - such as warping and shrinking.

Distressed Oak Flooring

Engineered oak flooring is one of our most popular products, especially in our engineered wood flooring sale. Oak is an extremely versatile material which is why it’s been used for centuries to create floors.

Since it was first used hundreds of years ago, manufacturers have invested a huge amount of development into real oak floors to bring the full range of colours, finishes and variations that are available today. Distressed oak flooring in our engineered range is a fantastic choice. It combines beautiful real oak with an aged appearance

Distressed oak flooring is the perfect way to bring the character of an authentic old floor to your home while still getting the long lifespan of a new floor.

We provide distressed oak in a massive range of colours, board sizes and thicknesses. Browse through the products above to find the one that suits your tastes and requirements. Distressed vs Reclaimed Floors

Distressed wood flooring is different from reclaimed wood flooring. Distressed floors refer to brand new wooden floors that have been treated to look older and to bring out the natural variations and blemishes in the wood.

Reclaimed wood flooring is made from old wood floors, or sometimes wood that’s been used for other purposes previously, that has been treated and repurposed into new floors. They can look similar to distressed wood flooring, but they don’t come from new wood.

Distressed wood floors are a fantastic way to get the authentic look of reclaimed wooden flooring, but with the long lifespan you expect from a brand new floor - as well as the moisture and heat resistance that make engineered wood a fantastic choice for your home.
